Getting Started

How long does it take to set up InspectBot?

Most inspectors are up and running within a few hours. You create your account, upload your company logo and license information, configure your service area and inspection types, and you are ready to start booking. If you have existing client data, you can import it via CSV.

There is no lengthy onboarding process or IT setup required. InspectBot is entirely web-based and works on any device with a browser.

Do I need any special hardware or apps?

No special hardware is required. InspectBot works in any modern web browser on your phone, tablet, or computer. You use your existing phone camera to take inspection photos — InspectBot handles the rest. There is no app to install, though InspectBot works as a progressive web app (PWA) that you can add to your home screen for quick access on-site.

Can I import my existing inspection data?

Yes. InspectBot supports CSV imports for client lists, property records, and past inspection data. If you are migrating from another inspection platform like Spectora, HomeGauge, or InspectIT, we can help map your data during the trial period. Contact our support team and we will walk you through it.

Is there a contract or commitment?

No long-term contracts. InspectBot is month-to-month with no cancellation fees. Annual plans are available at a discount (two months free), but there is no penalty for switching to monthly or canceling. We earn your business every month.

Reports & Documentation

What does an AI-generated report look like?

InspectBot reports are professional, branded documents that include an executive summary, system-by-system findings organized by category (roof, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, foundation, exterior, interior), annotated photos with AI-generated descriptions, severity ratings for each finding, and recommended actions.

Reports are delivered as PDF and via a secure web link. The web version is mobile-friendly and allows clients to zoom into photos and share specific findings with their agent or contractor.

Can I edit the AI-generated report before sending it?

Absolutely. InspectBot generates a draft report from your photos and field notes, but you have full control to edit, add, remove, or override any content before publishing. You can change severity ratings, add custom notes, adjust descriptions, and insert additional photos. The AI handles the heavy lifting; your expertise is the final authority.

Does InspectBot support commercial inspection reports?

Yes. InspectBot supports both residential and commercial inspection report formats. Commercial reports include additional sections for ADA compliance, fire safety systems, elevator inspections, environmental concerns, and commercial HVAC systems. You can create custom templates for different inspection types on the Enterprise plan.

How fast is report generation?

A typical residential inspection report is generated in 10 to 15 minutes after you finalize your photos and field notes. This compares to the 2 to 4 hours most inspectors spend writing reports manually. The AI draft is usually 90% ready to publish — most inspectors spend another 10 to 15 minutes reviewing and making minor edits.

Compliance & Standards

Which building codes does InspectBot check against?

InspectBot maintains a database covering the International Residential Code (IRC), International Building Code (IBC), National Electrical Code (NEC), Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC), and International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC). Local code amendments and state-specific requirements are layered on top when you configure your operating jurisdictions.

Does InspectBot align with ASHI and InterNACHI standards?

Yes. InspectBot includes built-in checklists aligned with both the American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI) Standard of Practice and the International Association of Certified Home Inspectors (InterNACHI) Standards of Practice. This ensures you never miss a required inspection area and your reports meet professional standards.

Can InspectBot handle state-specific inspection requirements?

Yes. Many states have specific licensing requirements, mandatory report formats, or additional inspection areas (such as wood-destroying organism reports in some southern states). InspectBot is configurable to include state-specific sections and disclosures. You set your operating state once and the system adjusts accordingly.

Security & Data

How does InspectBot protect my data and my clients' data?

InspectBot uses bank-grade encryption for all data. Data is encrypted in transit using TLS 1.3 and at rest using AES-256 encryption. Our infrastructure is hosted on SOC 2 Type II certified cloud providers within the United States. We never share, sell, or use your data for any purpose other than providing the service.

Photos, reports, and client information are isolated per account. No other InspectBot user can access your data.

Where are my photos and reports stored?

All photos, reports, and data are stored on encrypted servers in the United States. Backups are maintained in geographically separated US data centers for disaster recovery. Your data remains available for as long as your account is active, and you can export everything at any time.

Can I export my data if I cancel?

Yes. You own your data. At any time, you can export your complete client list, inspection records, photos, and reports in standard formats (CSV, PDF, ZIP). If you cancel your subscription, you have 90 days to export your data before it is permanently deleted.

Billing & Plans

What happens after the 14-day free trial?

At the end of your trial, you choose a plan and enter payment information. If you do not subscribe, your account is paused — you can still log in and export your data for 90 days, but you cannot create new inspections or generate reports. There is no surprise charge and no credit card is taken during the trial.

Can I change plans or add inspector seats later?

Yes. You can upgrade or downgrade at any time. Upgrades take effect immediately with prorated billing. Downgrades take effect at the end of your current billing cycle. If you need additional inspector seats beyond your plan limit, contact us for custom pricing.

What counts as an "inspection" for billing purposes?

One inspection equals one property visit that results in a report. If you inspect a property and generate a report, that counts as one inspection regardless of how many photos you take or how many systems you inspect. Re-inspections of the same property count as a separate inspection. Ancillary services (radon, mold, WDO) performed during the same visit count as one inspection.
